Accepted Paper for the 10th International Conference on Computer Supported Education - CSEDU2018!!!
I am glad to share with you this last news: The paper titled "'Instructional Application for Programming and Algorithmic Self-learning: A Didactic Approach with Mobile Robotics as Pedagogical Context", which I worked with the co-authorship of my dear friend and colleague, Prof. Fernando De la Rosa, have been accepted for presentation at the 10th International Conference on Computer Supported Education - CSEDU2018. Conference that will be held on March 15th in Portugal!!! (See Conference Page)
This paper will be later be accessible at the Conference's proceedings, which will be indexed by Thomson Reuters Conference Proceedings Citation Index (CPCI/ISI), INSPEC, DBLP, EI (Elsevier Engineering Village Index) and SCOPUS. As soon as I have a link to it, I will be publishing it here for your access and information.
I am really happy to start this 2018 with such great news!!!
I am definitely happy of my thesis students!...This is the reason I want to share with you the amazing presentations they did for their very first dissertation of their projects. I am really proud of them, of their work, and of how they have grown since we met. They are terrific!!!!
Congratulations and Cheers!!!
On November 30, I was recognized with the Prize to the Professor that Evidence Excellence in a Foreign Language Experience - VI Call for Academic Excellence Incentives. Recognition I received for the work that I have been conducting, for one year now, in my undergraduate Functional Programming Course. My work was titled and published in the Ceremony's proceedings as "Functional Programming: A bilingual experience in Systems Engineering".
I am glad and honored for this prize. I thank the Universidad El Bosque for the opportunity it have given me to grow as an Educator. I wish this goals to be multiplied successfuly in a near future!
I gladly inform you that the conference paper titled "Applied Mathematics: An Innovative Course in Applied Mathematics and Science for an Undergraduate Curriculum in Computing Disciplines" has already been published in the proceedings of the 7th Research in Engineering Education Symposium (REES 2017): Research in Engineering Education, being indexed in SCOPUS and available at REEN's official website: access paper.
This is are amazing news, resulting from a work which I proudly conducted with my colleague and friend Prof. Orlando López-Cruz, who I appreciate and admire deeply.
On November, I got a positive response from the International Journal of Engineering Pedagogy (iJEP), accepting my paper "The Godparent Plan: A Pedagogical Strategy for CS1 Accompaniment and CS2 Pedagogical Enhancement.", which I worked with the co-authorship of Prof. Carlos H. Ortíz Buitrago (Universidad El Bosque, Colombia).
There is not a publication date for it, but this achievement made me very happy because of the context and scenario that brought up this academic product, and for the future work that it opens at my University!
On November, we had the pleasure to host at Universidad El Bosque, Colombia, the international conference "CITI - 2017". For this conference, I presented with my student Jesús Henríquez the work titled "Elaboración de Tecnologías Educativas para el Cuidado de Recursos Hídricos en Ubicaciones Colombianas Sensibles: del Guavio hasta el Salto de Tequendama", which was very well received by the academic community that assisted.
The work was co-authored by my amazing students Felipe Castillo, Nestor Bernal and Jesús Henriquez, and by my dear colleague Prof. Edier E. Espinosa.
Amazing results and amazing work!
2017's Achievements: Successful Presentation at SIGITE 2017 (Rochester Institute of Technology, USA)
I have been busy the last months, but I just don't want to miss the opportunity to update my blog and share with you some good things that happened this last semester. One of them was the successful presentation of two of my advised undergraduate projects, which were presented at The 18th Annual Conference on Information Technology Education (SIGITE 2017).
We traveled to Rochester, NY, to experience an amazing time with colleagues and people really interested on working and enhancing CS Education. The presented works were:
On the other hand, I can't be prouder of the talent and work of my students, who amazingly represented El Bosque University and Colombia. They are incredible!
Successful Presentation: REES 2017 - Research on Engineering Education Symposium (Los Andes University, Colombia)
I am glad to share with you that the paper titled "Applied Mathematics: An Innovative Course in Applied Mathematics and Science for an Undergraduate Curriculum in Computer Disciplines", was successfully presented at REES 2017 - Research on Engineering Education Symposium. Symposium which took place at Los Andes University, Colombia, attracting more than 20 countries from all around the world.
Here I share some pictures of the event, where I met amazing people who constantly work on enhancing education in our disciplines.
Note: The paper is in a preprint state, and will be available through SCOPUS in further months.
I want to publicly congratulate my students Andrés Felipe Cruz Rodríguez and Sebastián Ospina Gómez, for a successful and very well conducted thesis defense. This presentation was done on June 5, and resulted to be nominated for Mention of Honor.
Congratulations for your hard work and results!!!
You deserve this and better!!!
Fabian Medina, Research Assitant with whom I worked the first pilot for Engineers Without Boundaries (ISF), Manglar - Water League; got accepted with Graduate Assistantship for the M.Sc in Systems and Computing Engineering at Los Andes University, Colombia.
Your future is bright and full of success!
